Kevin Grandia, who writes for DeSmogBlog, cross-posted to the Huffington Post yesterday a piece discussing Sen.-elect Scott Brown (Tea-bagger, MA) and the pending climate legislation that was held up by the dysfunctional Senate.
Grandia’s take is that the climate change legislation is under greater threat with Brown in the Senate.
Brown supported action on climate change while in the Massachusetts State Senate. Once he started running for the U.S. Senate, he needed to talk like the rest of the Cons in D.C., saying he thought climate change was natural. His Senate campaign website included:
“I oppose a national cap and trade program because of the higher costs that families and businesses would incur.”
Which is, of course, the approved talking point for national-level Cons. It’s completely incorrect, but our corporate stenographic media won’t ever challenge him on the facts.
I think Dems would be very smart to start calling Brown out on his shifting stance on the most critical issue this nation faces. If he kills climate change legislation, it will likely be too late to do anything but adapt to the hell we’ll create for ourselves.
