Dick Cheney Pushed For Syria Bombing

All I have to say is, “Duh“.

Were he anybody else, Dick Cheney would have been certified as insane a long, long time ago.  As a member of the moneyed elite ruling class, his psychotic viewpoints on governing and the world are allowed to exist in the sphere of public debate as though they were just as valid as any other reasonable human being’s.

What is interesting is that he was proud to stand on his ideological pedestal even as other members of the Bush Regime slowly edged back toward civil discourse on a multitude of topics.  If only the 2000 election weren’t unconstitutionally decided by an ideological Supreme Court; if only the 2004 election weren’t rigged by loyal Bush lieutenants, we never would have found out just how psychotic Cheney really was.

WeatherDem: Shut Up Already, Cheney

Dick “Puppet-Master” Cheney is one of the most immoral persons on this planet.  It appears he has more in common with Balloon Boy’s dad than I had previously imagined: he just can’t stand being out of the spotlight.  Seriously, what happened in this guy’s childhood home that he has to invade foreign nations, destroy economies and societies, then feels it necessary to lecture other Presidents when they don’t do the same?

Cheney wants President Obama to stop ‘dithering’ on Afghanistan.

Well I want Cheney to shut up.  He has no credibility with this nation or with any other nation on this planet.

“Make no mistake. Signals of indecision out of Washington hurt our allies and embolden our adversaries,” Cheney said.

No, dumbass, our adversaries are emboldened because we’re occupying two Muslim nations with no plans to get out completely of either.  They’re emboldened because we continue to bomb residents of those countries who aren’t fighting us.  I know for a fact that Cheney’s daughter Liz would take up arms against a country that occupied the U.S. and bombed her father’s house.  It’s the same thing.  And the fact that he isn’t man enough to admit that to this country tells you all you need to know about his so-called “patriotism”.  Which is why he continues to make a fool of himself.

Republicans Defy More Subpoenas

In another example of how much Republicans follow their own advice, Alaska state employees are refusing to honor subpoenas issued in Republican Sarah Palin’s ethical scandal.  As I wrote yesterday, Sarah Palin and John McCain are demonstrating to the world that they think they’re above the law.  These actions directly follow George Bush’s and Dick Cheney’s efforts over the past year to defy U.S. Congressional subpoenas issued to former staffers.

Let’s review again: Sarah Palin’s ran on accountability and transparency during the race for Governor.  She ran against corrupt Republicans, as she is only too happy to tell her fans. Sarah Palin fired the Alaska public safety commissioner earlier this year.  The Alaska legislature wants to know why.  Don’t let Palin and McCain fool you: Republicans control that legislature.  Republicans want to get to the bottom of this as much as Democrats do.  But Palin’s staff is now refusing to comply with a legally issued subpoena.  What does Palin and McCain have to hide from the American people?  If she did nothing wrong, she should have no problem letting the investigation continue unhindered.  If she wasn’t McCain’s VP pick, you can bet that’s what would be happening.  Palin has also said no fewer than 17 times, from July 18 to September 2, that should would fully cooperate with any investigation.  The same person who ran her campaign on accountability and against other corrupt Republicans is demonstrating how unaccountable and corrupt she really is.  John McCain is demonstrating how he would run his White House: if anything went wrong, he would stand in the way of due justice, just like George Bush and Dick Cheney are doing.

Random Pieces 4/9/08

Will the Internet become obsolete starting this fall? Leave it to the good folks in Britain to actually report on scientific news:

At speeds about 10,000 times faster than a typical broadband connection, “the grid” will be able to send the entire Rolling Stones back catalogue from Britain to Japan in less than two seconds.

The latest spin-off from Cern, the particle physics centre that created the web, the grid could also provide the kind of power needed to transmit holographic images; allow instant online gaming with hundreds of thousands of players; and offer high-definition video telephony for the price of a local call.

Just don’t tell the telecommunication companies here in the United States. They’ll find a way to slow everybody down and charge ridiculous amounts of money for the privilege of using their “services”.

Didn’t Dick Cheney make enough money off the Iraq war and occupation to afford his own security detail once he leaves office? Then why is he going to stick the tab to taxpayers instead? Because Republicans love them some government waste – as long as they’re the ones wasting it.

The Secret Service is preparing to provide Vice President Cheney with agents, transportation, advance work and other security-related trappings of executive power for six months after the Bush administration packs up and moves out in January, the agency’s director, Mark Sullivan, told Congress last week. The expected cost: $4 million.

More proof that Republicans are not fiscally conservative, as if we needed another example.

250,000 for Wexler’s impeachment call?

Only five days after announcing the site’s existence, over 100,000 (currently 115,099) people have signed up to support impeachment of Dick Cheney – one of the least popular politicians of all time.

I firmly believe evidence exists that would support the theory that Cheney has committed high crimes and misdemeanors against the people of the United States. I think it is incumbent upon the House of Representative’s leadership to stop obstructing the Judiciary Committee from beginning investigative hearings into the conduct of the Vice President’s office.

One of the latest theories out there is that Rep. Pelosi and other officials knew to larger degree the details of the workings within the administration at a far earlier date than most (including myself) have previously believed. If that’s the case, they deserve to be investigated as well. No person or party should be immune to the enforcement of our laws. So if their supposed insight and involvement into the administration’s crimes is what’s holding them back, that should be investigated as well.

But this is really about Cheney for now. Go to Wexler’s site and sign to support impeachment hearings. This country is strong enough to learn what’s been going on. In fact, I believe the existence of our republic in the future depends largely on how much of the Bush administration’s nefarious activities are brought to light and how they’re handled.

Can we get to 250,000 before Congress reconvenes in January?
